The Intentional Therapist
Hi, I'm Alexis — and I'm glad you're here.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and the DMV
12+ years experience · Trauma-informed, practically grounded care.
A lot of my clients come to therapy already doing the work — exercising, reading the books, doing all the right things. But something still feels stuck. The anxiety is still there. The patterns keep showing up. Their relationships aren't quite where they want them to be.
That's usually where I come in.
I'm Alexis Evans, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and the DMV with over 12 years of experience in care coordination, counseling and private practice. I've worked with individuals navigating a wide range of concerns — from anxiety and relationship trauma to life transitions and unexpected turns.
I’ve earned a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a Master's in Nonprofit Management, and that dual background shapes how I work. I care about practical outcomes as much as I care about the therapeutic process — which means you'll leave sessions with more than just insight. You'll leave with resources.
I believe healing starts with understanding — understanding yourself, your patterns, the stories you've been carrying, and how they're showing up in your life right now.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw from multiple evidence-based frameworks depending on what you need: CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-based work, and trauma-informed care.
What that looks like in practice: Sessions that are structured but not rigid, warm but direct, and always focused on helping you move from overwhelmed and reactive to intentional and emotionally aware.
My Philosophy — How It Works
I started Intentional Living Psychotherapy because I wanted to create a space that felt both clinically grounded and genuinely human — a place where high-preforming people could finally slow down enough to do the deeper work, without having to abandon who they are in the process.
I'm particularly passionate about working with career professionals, because I know what it's like to be great at what you do and still feel like you're falling behind in the places that matter most.
